Braking records and taking names is still the name of Jay-Z’s game. For years we’ve listened to Jay-Z’s music in awe of his lyrical genius and crazy word play and that talent has gained him the recognition he deserves. Yesterday, Jay-Z was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and not only that, he upped the ante being the first rapper to be inducted. The Songwriters Hall of Fame described Jay Z as an “accomplished lyricist,” recognized for his “remarkable wordplay.” Chance the Rapper took the time to congratulate on Twitter:
In acknowledgment of the his induction Jay tweeted, “By the way, this is a win for US,” he wrote. “I remember when rap was said to be a fad . We are now alongside some of the greatest writers in history.”
The official induction will take place on June 15 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in NYC, where the 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner will take place.
Congrats Jay!!!
