You know like I know, like everybody in the hood know that 80% of men ‘want their cake and eat it too’. I remember hearing this idiomatic proverb as an adolescent and didn’t really get it. But naturally with life’s experiences, I unfortunately have become very familiar with the true meaning. It’s true, men especially want to retain their pretty little piece of cake for the feeling they get just looking at it, but wouldn’t mind eating it for dessert. So, what do they do to meet their needs at the half way point… they pick up multiple women and categorize them. Maybe she is great at fallatio, maybe she can cook her butt off or maybe she’s the perfect arm candy…either way they want it ALL. Drake gives us the perfect visual of having your cake and eating it too with his new video’Child’s Play’. I’m a week late watching this, but it’s 12 minutes long, so you could probably understand the delay. Drake’s love video interest Tyra Banks is the perfect depiction of a …
I love me some R&B and there is nothing better when I find a well produced collaboration between a rapper and an R&B artist. It’s the softer side of the rapper that I love hearing. My most recent find is a collaboration between veteran Joey Crack and rookie Bryson Tiller on a track titled ‘Love You To Pieces’. Unbeknownst to me, before Bryson Tiller’s recent success, Fat Joe was interested in signing him, but instead decided to do a few collaborations and this track was one of the final products. Not only do I love the lyrics and the tempo, but I love the fact that I use the phrase ‘Love You To Pieces’ frequently and it made me smile. Listen to the track above.

Tink’s voice and Timbaland’s production drags me back into the 90’s with Nicole Wray’s ‘I Got What You Want’. Tink’s ability to transition between tough lyricist to sweet songtress is definitely her advantage. Here’s to the single girl who is exhausted with the pointless mingling.
Riding to the office this morning I had the urge to hear songs that touched my soul and yanked at my heart strings. These were my top 5 that made you feel the LOVE, the PAIN and the CURVE. Happy hump day! You felt the love in ‘I Don’t Want To Do Anything’ with Mary J. Blige featuring K-Ci Haily: See Mary and K-Ci in action: In Mary’s words: The LOVE made you wanna get on one knee or say “yes, i do” before he even asks in “Happily Ever After” with Case: You felt the PAIN in “Back Like That” with Ghostface Killa featuring Ne-Yo: Your felt the RESENTMENT that came along with that PAIN in “Resentment” with Beyoncé: You felt the CURVE when you tried to get that old thing back in “Girl Go On” with Ne-Yo:
You can lie to yourself all you want, but a little hoodrat lives in all of us. I’m very much in touch with my inner hoodrat who comes out to play every now and again…I think my boyfriend would say she [my inner hoodrat] is present all the time *shrugs*. Adele is seems to be pretty in tune with her inner hoodrat as well. Who can deny that when you listen to Adele sing, she tugs at your heartstrings, but listening to her rap Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” on James Corden’s carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show warmed my little hoodrat heart. She also covered the songs we all love like “Hello”, “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep”. You can fast forward to the 10:10 mark to hear Adele rap, but the entire 15 minute video is worth watching.
